Hudson Light Solar Panels

The Hudson Light and Power Department unveiled the solar power system installed at its Cherry Street generating station in November of 2008.

"This project represents Hudson Light's commitment to both the community and the environment," commented General Manager Yakov D. Levin.  "The system was designed by our own engineers with components purchased from Massachusetts-based businesses, and will hopefully benefit our customers with their own forays into energy alternatives."

The solar panel system's design matched that which would be used for a typical household.  The knowledge and experience that Hudson Light gained through the installation process and use of the system is available to customers interested in investing in their own homes.

The Alternative Energy Store of Hudson provided the Department with valuable photo-voltaic counseling.  The panels were purchased from Evergreen Solar of Marlboro,  Solectria of Laurence manufactured the inverter component.

System Description:

Panels: 12 Evergreen Solar ES 190W 65” x 37.5”

Inverter: Solectria PVI 3000 3,000 W

Total Cost: $22,000

Start-up Date: 11/12/08
